Chất kết dính là thành phân khá quan trọng khi gia công phủ bề mặt ván nhựa và ván gỗ công nghiệp. Hiện nay, hầu hết các doanh nghiệp cũng như các xưởng sản xuất đồ nội thất đều đang sử dụng keo dán cạnh gỗ truyền thống EVA ( ví dụ như keo dán cạnh ADINO) để dán cạnh gỗ nhờ khả năng kết dính tốt trên nhiều chất liệu, dễ dàng sử dụng, dễ bảo quản và vận chuyển.
Keo dán cạnh gỗ EVA có đặc điểm là sau quá trình dán và bám dính có thể hâm nóng trở lại ở nhiệt độ nóng chảy. Điều này cho phép doanh nghiệp sau khi kết thúc một đơn hàng có thể tái sử dụng lượng keo thừa trong dây chuyền sản xuất nội thất hiện đại. Tuy nhiên, đây cũng là hạn chế lớn của keo EVA khiến liên kết giữa bề mặt cốt gỗ và các chỉ dán cạnh gỗ bị phá vỡ nếu sử dụng trong môi trường có nhiệt độ cao và dễ bị gãy nứt trong nhiệt độ thấp, gây hiện tượng bong tróc chỉ dán cạnh sau một thời gian sử dụng.
Việc sử dụng keo dán cạnh PUR (Polyurethane – keo chống thấm nước) thay thế keo dán cạnh gỗ EVA là một giải pháp hữu hiệu nhất. Trên thế giới, keo chống thấm nước PUR được sử dụng từ những năm 1990 và là một trong những tiêu chí bắt buộc phải sử dụng cho các sản phẩm nội thất tại Mỹ và châu u.

Keo PUR (Polyurethane) là một loại vật liệu tổng hợp cấu thành từ nhiều thành phần hữu cơ liên kết bằng urethane. Khi gia công, keo PUR cần sử dụng máy có nồi keo chân không. Kết hợp với dây chuyền máy dán phủ melamin, laminlate, veneer đối với dạng lỏng và máy dán cạnh tự động hiện đại đối với dạng thỏi và hạt. Các hãng máy chế biến gỗ lớn đã đều có các loại máy dán cạnh, máy phủ áp dụng công nghệ keo PUR, nên khách hàng không cần lo lắng về việc không có máy móc để sử dụng keo PUR.
Đặc điểm keo PUR:
Tiết kiệm hơn bởi vì chỉ độ bám dính của keo rất cao nên chỉ cần lượng nhỏ keo để dán.
Khả năng chịu nhiệt PUR: 120 độ C
Khả năng chống ẩm PUR: 1,02% . ( Lượng nước hấp thụ trong 48 giờ ngâm nước ).
Độ dày đường keo PUR 0,1mm
Có khả năng dán cả mặt phẳng trơn bóng như Acrylic.
